Roman Ruins

Here are some photos from a day trip I took to see more ancient ruins. The Phoenicians set up shop in this place waaaay back in the day. Thousands of years later, the Romans entered the scene and built temples in honor of Jupiter Baal, Bacchus, Venus, and Mercury. It attracted devout pilgrims seeking to pay homage to their gods which then gave the city its significance in the Roman Empire. This place is SO rich with history, it is just fantastic.

I have never been to Rome (insh'allah someday!), but I hear this place has preserved more ruins than the empire's homebase. Unfortunately, the city doesn't attract as many tourists as it could and should, but oh well (more room to roam and frolick for me). How I wish you were here!
