Unnoticed

I love browsing through old journal entries. To me, they are like paper receipts of God's continued faithfulness in my life. This one entry from last December particularly impressed me today:

"If you truly want to be in the service of the Lord, you must become accustomed to being unnoticed. You must be OK and even delight in good works done in secret. You must be OK with no recognition whatsoever. 'The applause of nail-pierced hands is what matters.' "

So beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 6). Now that'd be stupid, yeah?
